Extra edition of the Extra Pharmacopoeia
Happy 125th anniversary, Martindale! To mark the occasion, the publishers have produced this reproduction of The Extra Pharmacopoeia by William Martindale and Wynn Westcott. It first was published in 1883. The ‘extra’ of the title was chosen with the classical meaning of ‘outside’ since the publication was intended to describe those drugs not included in the British Pharmacopoeia of the time. The Extra Pharmacopoeia was immediately successful and by 1885 already in its fourth edition.
